Welcome to the official web site of the
Lancaster County Dental Society. The society has a long and
distinguished history. A Dental Association was formed in May 1867,
after a meeting of a number of dentists from Lancaster city and
county. The new association was named the Harris Dental Association
of Lancaster, PA, in honor of Dr. Chapin Harris who was instrumental
in getting the University of Maryland to add dental training to the
medical department of the college in 1839. Through the vision and
dedication of this group of dentists, they established the 4th
oldest dental society in America. The name change to the Lancaster
County Dental Society was made in1954.
The Society has approximately 230
active members and 45 retired dentist members. Other active dental
health related groups in the area include the Alliance of the
Lancaster County Dental Society and the Lancaster County Dental
Hygiene and Assistants Association.
The purpose of the web site is to
keep our members abreast of upcoming continuing education meetings,
list upcoming member events, discuss any legislative issues related
towards our profession and keeping us informed about our
community. Our hope is that our members access the site and find it
helpful and informative.

It is with heavy heart that we report
the passing of our executive secretary Janet C. Noll,
on July 11, 2008 . Janet was hired by Dr. James Heslop
in 1994. Janet did more things on behalf of the society
than most of us will ever know. All the past presidents
of the society know that she was invaluable and made our
job much easier. Janet is survived by a daughter
Phyllis. Janet will be truly missed. |
